Valamar Summer Nights - entertainment for all generations
Valamar Riviera, Croatia’s leading hotel company, is determined to carry out its mission for this summer: to help the citizens and visitors of Dubrovnik have the best summer experiences and to make Babin kuk a first-class entertainment destination. In achieving this mission, it will have the help of a carefully designed programme intended for all ages. The official beginning of Valamar Summer Nights, which will last until mid-September, will be marked by the Scents & Tastes Festival, which will be held from 8 to 11 June, and which will be divided into two events: Craft Beer Festival and the Products of Croatian farms Fair.
Everyone visiting Mali Stradun housing the Products of Croatian farms Fair from 8 to 11 June will have the opportunity to taste traditional Croatian products not available in stores and to help small manufacturers and artisans all over Croatia by purchasing them. On 9 and 10 June Camping Solitudo (ex. Divinae Folie) will briefly become a taproom serving various beer specialties during the Craft Beer Festival, during which Valamar and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board will treat the locals and their guests to a unique experience – free concerts by Jinx (1st day of the Festival) and Psihomodo Pop (2nd day of the Festival).
Unforgettable concert experiences
Jinx and Psihomodo Pop will introduce a varied concert programme that will shake up the formerly sleepy Babin kuk; during the two-day humanitarian moto meeting, Camping Solitudo will rock to the sounds of MORT (16 June), Bjelouška (16 June), Banditen Strasse (16 June) and Divlje jagode (17 June) and ART (16 June).
The beautiful Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel terrace will offer a completely different ambience: on 30 June it will become a dance floor for all fans of the modern electronic and acoustic pop sound of the bands Detour and Pavel.
Do you want to experience jazz with tinges of Croatian tradition? That will also be possible, because on 7 July Mali Stradun will be home to the authentic sounds of the Jazziana Croatica ensemble, which brings together the seemingly incompatible jazz and various folk influences with the purpose of preserving Croatian musical heritage.
Visitors will be able to experience Neno Belan’s “Rock Noise” on 28 July in Camping Solitudo, when the frontman and his excellent Fiumens will make the audience dance to their timeless hits.
The most sought-after performer in the region, Petar Grašo, and his hit “Moje zlato” will bring romance and spectacle to the Camping Solitudo on 11 August and show why he is one of the most prolific Croatian musicians of the past two decades.
Fans of different and alternative rock music will have their moment on 18 August, when Camping Solitudo will welcome S.A.R.S.; on 1 September, the same venue will welcome the legendary Darko Rundek.
A taste of the olden days with Retro Nights and entertainment for the entire family with the Open Air Cinema
Retro Nights will offer a taste of Mali Stradun from the olden days, when local pop and rock bands will entertain the locals every Saturday in the Marin Držić Square and the Fountain Square. If you hear marching as you walk along Mali Stradun, that will be the City Guard, which will patrol Babin kuk between Thursday and Sunday from mid-June to mid-September.
Children and their parents will enjoy movies in nature during the Open Air Cinema evenings which will be held in the Maslinata park and the Fountain Square every Thursday and Sunday, treating the little ones to the most enjoyable movies, with an occasional screening for adults.
Valamar Summer Nights programme will be completed during the following months, but one thing is for sure: nobody will be left disappointed under the starry sky of Babin kuk.
